S.O.S. (Save Our Station) Music & Art Festival

A community building and awareness festival to unite and fight the hostile takeover of our beloved community volunteer-DJ-driven radio station KDHX

Spine Indie Bookstore & Café is hosting the S.O.S. Fest (Save Our Station), a music and art festival as a community building/uniting response to the debacle that has and continues to happen at our beloved community radio station KDHX. As many of you know this nationally recognized treasure of independent music station powered by volunteer DJs is being dismantled and restructured in a series of counter-productive and damaging decisions made by the current management with a potentially existential threat to KDHX’s core principles.

S.O.S. Fest will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, from Noon to 9:00pm. Live music will be provided by several local musicians and groups. The S.O.S. Fest has tried our best to be representative of KDHX, but time restraints and other issues make it impossible to include the myriad of genres and styles our local community station offers!
The music lineup:
Noon-12:45:
Whole Earth Nuclear Ukulele Orchestra
1pm-
1:45: Blues. The John McVey Trio (guest appearance by Tom Papa Ray)
2pm -2:45: Alternative Rock.
Long Sweet Minutes
3pm-3:45: Country Blues.
Bob Case (featuring Chuck Loeb)
4pm-4:45: Latin & N. American fusion.
Manos Pan America
5pm-5:45: Solo country.
Jesse Irwin
6pm-6:45: Psychedelic Progressive Rock.
Vertigo Swirl
7pm-7:45: Funky Jazz.
Soul City Organ Trio
8pm-8:45: Reggae.
Crucial Rootz
9pm-close: Acoustic Pop.
Langen Elise

A number of artists, artisans, and creatives will have booths available. Some of the work presented are illustrations, Reiki massage, photography, literature, fibre arts, jewelry, and other various artwork. Worth checking out!

We'll also have available Save KDHX shirts, buttons, and posters.

Thank you, and here’s hoping the KDHX ship gets righted!
